Peated Single Malt whisky from Brittany
Matured in "Coteaux du Layon" casks
Official Bottling (70 cl)
A wave of sweetness in a "peaty world"! For this new bottling, Jean chose two nice Kornog matured in "Coteaux du Layon" casks. This fine and mellow wine, made from Chenin grapes and grown on the characteristic schist hillsides of this region, brings with the barrels a beautiful roundness and very greedy aromas that marry wonderfully with peat.
Today 659 bottles are available for sale, bottled at the usual level of 46%, without caramel coloring (adjuvant E 151 A), nor cold filtration. Kornog is the peatded expression (about 40 PPM of phenols) of Glann ar Mor Distillery.
Its amber color is deep and warm. The nose develops some notes of peat and light smoke, delicately enveloped by fruity notes (ripe fruits, figs), and some notes that are reminiscent of old cognacs. In the mouth, we discover a frank attack on both peat and candied fruits. The finish is all in balance and harmony, awakened by a furtive touch of sweet bitterness.
This Kornog is the great seducer of delicate palates, which can sometimes be reserved for very powerful peats. It also federates in a way surprisingly alcoholic drink lovers, who often imagine accompanying their favorite chocolate or cigar.
